Being a bachelor living alone in a big city, managing house chores, especially preparing food, has always been an uphill task for me. Luckily, there’s an upside to living in a metropolitan area, as you can order from thousands of local eateries and restaurants via food and grocery apps and have them delivered to your doorstep.
All you need is a smartphone, install these apps, and have a reliable connection, like I have Spectrum Internet, to seamlessly place an order and track your finger-licking food in real-time, till it reaches your doorstep.
But easier said than done, because with so many food delivery apps to choose from, it can easily become overwhelming. Having said that, I’ve got tons of experience and know some apps inside out.
As I’ve been using them for a long time now, I’ll share a few that I believe are the best out there.
Grubhub

Whenever I’m running low on funds at the end of the month, this app is my go-to choice, since it offers tons of discounts and promotions. From high-end restaurants to local eateries, and fast food to Italian, Mexican, Chinese, salads, or anything, there are plenty of options on Grubhub.
That being said, what I like most about Grubhub is the customization option. I can easily customize my order, add dietary or any other special instructions, and get it delivered. Although Grubhub does charge a service and delivery fee, I don’t have to pay for it since I’ve bought its subscription.
Delivery fee is waived for exclusive members, and they’re also eligible for specific discounts. And, not to mention that Grubhub’s customer support swiftly addresses my order-related concerns, if I have any.
Also, there’s a whole section on the app where you can find restaurants and local eateries offering different discounts. Plus, there are times when we forget a restaurant or food item, we ordered before.
So, instead of searching for it manually, you can just head out to the “Orders” tab. This way, you’d get a complete history of previous orders and easily find what you’re looking for.
Having said that, I do believe that Grubhub takes the longest to deliver orders. Even though it never tested my patience, I still believe it’s slow compared to other food delivery apps I’ve used till now.
Nevertheless, as this food delivery app is loaded with several unique features, I believe waiting for a few more minutes shouldn’t hurt.
DoorDash

It is one of the most frequently opened apps on my smartphone, because besides ordering food, I also use it to order groceries and other household items. So, you can say that DoorDash is a pretty comprehensive app to order just about anything.
However, sticking to its food delivery feature, this app partnered with around 590,000 restaurants.
One of its most interesting features is nationwide food delivery. For instance, you can order a Texan-style brisket while sitting on your couch in Chicago.
However, don’t expect a quick delivery as it might take days, or even weeks, till you get to devour that brisket.
Also, DoorDash is a great option for users who love to discover local eateries. This platform actively promotes local food businesses and gives customers a chance to try something new.
Having said that, I believe DoorDash is one of the most innovative food delivery apps on the market.
For instance, this app can recommend budget-friendly food items or something unique that not many restaurants offer. And for this, they’ve created a whole different section to facilitate users.
Uber Eats

I believe it’d be a grave crime not to mention the most famous food delivery app in our country. Uber Eats was launched in 2014, and owing to Uber’s existing transport operations, its growth exploded in no time.
My experience tells me that Uber Eats takes the least amount of time to deliver food. Additionally, people with specific food preferences, such as gluten-free or halal, can find dedicated categories.
Like Grubhub, Uber Eats also waives the delivery charges on eligible orders when you opt for its subscription. Also, one outstanding feature of Uber Eats is that you can schedule an order in advance and get it delivered on a specified day and time you want.
Uber Eats has arguably the best interface among food delivery apps. Besides a bar at the top that lets you find your favorite restaurants, you can also search for different food items in the menu option.
Additionally, Uber Eats pricing is quite transparent as compared to other food-delivery apps. For instance, before checking out, the app displays a complete breakdown cost of your order. This way, you can get an exact figure of how much the food is going to cost you.
GoPuff

It is one of those apps that I use to satisfy my late-night cravings with delicious snacks. GoPuff was founded in 2013, and doesn’t have any expensive restaurants or local eateries on board.
Instead, they own and manage fulfillment centers across the country, which I believe helps them a lot in the quick delivery of goods like snacks and other household essentials.
One thing I like most about GoPuff is their flat delivery charges.
It hardly matters if you’re delivering a chocolate bar or a cutlery set; GoPuff will charge you the same, irrespective of your order size.
Having said that, I believe GoPuff should add a few more edible items to its menu to offer more options to its customers.
So, on the whole, these are the four food delivery apps that keep me well-fed when I don’t have time or energy to cook for myself.
With a lot of budget-friendly options to choose from, I can order a variety of finger-licking food items to my doorstep.
Also, before I wind up, I’ve got a little tip for you. If you frequently order from food delivery apps, make sure to buy their subscription.
Besides saving a lot on delivery charges, you might also get free coupons or promotional offers. And, not to forget the special treatment exclusive members receive from customer support.
